Maths Madness

November 22nd, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Our challenge for morning Maths today was an ‘odd one out question’.

We came up with all of these mathematical reasons.. some of which Miss Peach hadn’t thought of! Then we looked at how many ways we can represent 6 x 30. Here are our thoughts…

Children in Need

November 17th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

For Children in Need, Y4 decided they would contribute some money in order to do a talent show.

We had 16 acts altogether and they were all absolutely fantastic! Some of Y2 came into watch and helped us decide on a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

All the children in Y4 should be so proud of themselves!

This was our class description..

We love our P.E lessons with Iain!

Today we were learning about how to defend our goal as well as how to get the ball through the goal.

We always have so much fun and can’t wait to see what we do next week!

Practical Maths

In Maths we have been multiplying whole numbers by a 1 digit number.

We used the place value counters to help us at first but then we looked at how it would look as a written method.

Harry Potter Day

November 10th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Today was our Harry Potter Day and it was amazing!

Everyone looked incredible in their outfits and we had so much fun seeing what people came as and how they made their costume!

In the morning we did lots of Harry Potter activities and then in the afternoon we decorated biscuits and made marvellous milkshakes whilst watching Harry Potter.

We have had a great day!

Today in Art we have been drawing Phoenix’s like Faulks from Harry Potter.

We were looking at how we can blend our colour pencils to create the feather colours as well as how to create textures with the pencils.

Computing Creatures

Today, we have been learning how to save images from google into a folder.

We chose animals that we want to use to create a mythical creature.

We will be putting these images into a PowerPoint and drawing our own creature.

KS2 Harvest

October 17th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Today was our KS2 Harvest Festival and it was absolutely amazing!

The speakers were brilliant, with a clear, loud voice!

Miss Peach is especially proud of her class today! Last year, some of today’s speakers wouldn’t have even considered walking up to the stage and talking in front of 200 children and parents. But today, they conquered their fears and were incredible! I am so impressed with their new found confidence!

Well done Maple! You should be very proud of yourselves.

Outstanding Owls

October 10th, 2017 · 4 Comments · Uncategorized

This morning, a visitor came into school to show us different owls. He also brought in a hawk.

Outside, we saw some of the owls fly from post to post, through people’s arm and in between tight spaces!

When we got inside, we were able to hold a female barn owl and we saw a snow owl that looked just like Hedwig.

We learned that females have a speckled chest and males are white on their chest. We also found out that they have super amazing hearing and can fly without being heard. As well, an owl’s claws (or talon) are 8x stronger than a dog’s jaw/bite.

Did you know, if an owl has yellow eyes, it means they can fly at night AND in the daytime. If they have orange eyes, they fly at sun rise and late evenings and if they have black eyes, they fly/hunt at night!

Joke – What is the most common owl in the U.K?

A. Teet Owl!
